Petty’s, known for its wide selection of groceries, meats, produce, specialty foods, and Catering by Maureen, was a staple for Tulsa midtown shoppers for more than 70 years. It was established in 1945 by L.G. Rowan and Robert Petty. The business, first called Rowan & Petty, opened at the corner of East 21st and South Wheeling Ave., across from the present-day location of Utica Square. The store quickly earned the reputation as the best supplier of meats and groceries in all of Tulsa. In the ‘40s and ‘50s, Rowan and Petty established itself as a specialty store offering charge accounts, delivery services, quality meats, and outstanding service. Petty’s Fine Foods moved to Utica Square in 1972, but sadly closed in 2016.
